Développées uniquement sur la phase 2, elles étaient dotées du très bon moteur Douvrin, mais avec un alésage augmenté à 2.2 litres de cylindrée. La finition était digne des R30 en motorisation V6 (ou Turbo D), avec notamment le système Normalur disponible en option. On retrouva ensuite ce moteur sur les R25 GTX (et Citroën CX 22 TRS).
